First of all, happy birthday to my dad! I tried going to dinner for his birthday while in Madrid, but instead we celebrated it this weekend at my parents’ house. ๐ Thanks to them I was able to tag along on their trip!
If it was up to me, I would’ve yelped everything everywhere we went. But because there was limited service and we didn’t want to get lost, it was a mostly stop-in wherever looks fine type of deal. That being said, Saint Dominique looked awesome, but ended up being our least favorite restaurant of the entire trip. :-/ Luckily there were a few guide books in the lobby of our hotel and I found a nearby spot called “Le Petit Cler.” That was my favorite! I ordered a thin toast with eggplant on marinara sauce on it. Nothing extravagant but definitely the best French food I’ve had so far.
Because we had little time in Paris, we made it to a few monuments, but never set foot inside. I didn’t mind since my mom and I [and sister!] did our share of exploring in 2012. The biggest bummer was the Lover’s Bridge. I had heard that they were removing the locks, but then I saw it. The temporary panels that are currently on the bridge aren’t all that beautiful, in my opinion. They kept some [or all?] of the panels on land, where it is not a hazard I suppose. ๐
My friend, Friday, is actually in Paris at the moment. I can’t wait to see what all she finds! Bookmark her blog, there are plenty of Ireland and Houston posts to keep you busy while you await her Parisian stories.
Do you have any favorite spots in the city?
xoxo
