skin care and pizza faces

A while back [almost a year EXACTLY] I posted about my skin and how awful it has become in the last 3 years or so. I’ve tried so many different face washes but nothing seems to do the trick. Starting today [when my package arrived] I will be testing out two different products with my fingers and toes crossed!

Numero uno is this crazy intense mud mask. The reviews were extremely motivational, so I took the plunge. I mixed in some apple cider vinegar [as recommended] and plastered it on for about 15 minutes. The stuff smelled unpleasant [yay vinegar] and hardened like a rock! I posted a silly vine about not being able to open my mouth. haha
And on the jar it says that my face would pulse – YEP. It totally did!
The only annoying part is getting it off. Because the mud gets so hard, I had to do a lot of rubbing and scraping. It’d just be easier to do in the shower. Afterwards my face was a little red for about 10 minutes, but definitely felt refreshed.

After roller derby practice I scrubbed my face with an Olay cleansing system. Once again, the reviews were pretty good, and a friend of mine loves hers.

We shall see!! If I start to notice results in a week or so, I might even share an unedited photo of my face from BEFORE. AHHH!!! 🙂

What is your skin care routine?

  1. Breakouts are zero fun! Honestly, mine decreased a TON when I started using products with less chemicals. I use Aveeno facewash (really gentle), St. Ives green tea scrub for exfoliation, Burt's Bees toner (gets all the oil/dirt out and makes my face really smooth), and Aveeno moisturizer. I use Kiehl's Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Masque every now and then for a good clay mask that pulls all the impurities out. I've found that a lot of ingredients in popular brands of facial cleansers do more harm than good and your skin might be reacting badly to something in a product that is supposed to "help." Making the switch to less harsh chemicals has really helped my skin a lot, so if all else fails, give it a try! 🙂 Hope it gets better for you girl!

  2. All my face products are currently kiehl's (yay big samples) including their vit c moisturizer. Lots O' Water and my doctor friend said it'll take about a month for everything to change. But you should stay seeing differences in the same week I bet.

  3. Dude! I could've told you about bentonite clay, It's awesome! I struggle with skin problems as well. This blogger was having some of the same skin issues I am having so I started using her skin care regimen along with the clay masks I found on another bloggers site: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxngloZAjyQ

To help with removing the mask, run your face cloth under warm water until it's saturated. Hold it on your face for a little bit and it will loosen the mask, so it comes off easier. You can also mix the clay with sour cream and it acts like a mild skin peel.

Maybe we can swap skin care ideas. I also make my own brown sugar and honey scrub when I want to exfoliate or the Burt's Bees Peach scrub.

Good luck! I hope you see some results soon. I'm right there with ya.
