While on the road to San Antonio I mostly tried not to think of the game by reading a book. On the way back though…my carpool couldn’t stop joking, talking, it was a blast. Even though we got home at 2:30am [on a Sunday night!]. ๐
New information that makes more sense: the jam has just ended. Which explains why I am not skating low – as proper form requires…

This game was a real eye opener. I don’t usually have to worry about racking up penalties, but sometimes you’ve got to adjust the way you play the game. The packs were moving so slowly initially, it felt impossible to keep from back blocking. I had 2 majors and 3 minors by the end of the first half. [4 minor penalties = trip to the box – thanks kiki!…screws up strategy with me having 3…]. And I couldn’t get my 4th minor over and done with so I could be “clean.” All that was my “learning experience” right there. I tried my best not to be too disappointed by the way I jammed. It can all be turned into a lesson… And somehow, my team voted me “Best New Knockout” – which was a HUGE and amazing surprise!

You are a complete and total bad ass Roxy. Truly. xoxo
I've always wanted to play Roller Derby, after I saw the movie Whip It! I AM only 14, so I'll probably have to wait a while to be able to play it, but it looks like such a fun sport! I love the second picture, such a great action shot ๐

Yay, derby! I am in the box with you up there. ๐ Also, four minors does NOT equal a major, but it does equal a trip to the box. I think I learned this via screwing up a rules test! You did great and I wanted to see you jamming more. Boo!
thank you for the correction! and yes, that is totally you standing there! ๐
I love seeing your derby photos…makes me want to be a derby girl SO bad!!
