Texas Style Council

These blog posts have been going up all over the internet. Here is mine. πŸ™‚
I am by no means a fashion blogger. My “what I wore”posts happen when, in my foggy morning daze, I put something together that is [maybe] worth photographing.
As an educator, I like to dress to impress – students and co-workers…at least for the first couple months. πŸ˜‰
Do you pick your outfit the night before or on the fly?
So I signed up for this event because I wanted tips on how to be a better blogger. The tip you might notice as of recently? Design. I played with my template for a couple days and came up with my current template. πŸ™‚

[I keep calling her by her twitter handle, amorby, in my head :)]
I finally got to meet some of my friends! It was a very liberating experience, to talk to someone about your blog layout, cameras, html, readership, etc, without boring the crap out of them! And the funniest bits were when we would go out to eat, and everyone would whip out the camera. Or several ladies taking outfit posts simultaneously. <3
Pictured above: Jenni and Elise, as well as my Austin friends Renee and Louise. πŸ™‚
More highlights include a sweet photography workshop, and Q&A with oh-so-many blogging ladies.
Maria and I.
Since I used to live in Austin, and have been there plenty, I tried to enjoy the company more so than the atmosphere – especially since the weather was cruddy for the most part! Everyone with whom I spent my free moments was incredibly genuine, and much sweeter than I imagined. <3
While the social events were a bit too crowded for my taste [but that’s a good thing for TXSC!:)], the panels on our last day were amazing! I took down so many notes and made so many plans…
Now comes the follow through. πŸ™‚
Thanks so much to Indiana and her helpers for putting everything together! If you were considering going next year…DO IT.

Also make sure you check out these ladies’ blogs for more photographs of the event!
Though I didn’t get a photo with Jessica or  Becky, I am glad to have met them! πŸ™‚
p.s. how amazing would you feel to find the t-shirts you designed for sale in a store??
congrats, Renee!

  1. The new layout looks great! I wish I could have been there last weekend. It sounds like you guys learned a lot. And…YAY for RenΓ©e! I was so excited when she tweeted the pictures of the shirts! πŸ™‚

  2. TxSC sounds like such an amazing time. I didn't even hear about it until just before the even – There's always next year! I've never [yet!] had an experience meeting a blog friend that wasn't wonderful – time to do more of it in 2012!

    • i've actually met a couple ladies from the internets and it was such a rad time. since you kind of already know each other, it's just like…hanging out πŸ™‚

  3. It seems like you guys really had a great time. I've had a similar experience with meeting people who have been my penpals for a long time and it's very comforting and lovely to have the company of people who you have so much in common with!

Do they do blog conventions like this all over the country?

  4. ROXY! I love your guts. I seriously feel like I'm going through withdrawals. Maybe I can visit Texas again and you can help me learn fractions since I never did in 4th grade. waaaah waaaaaah. Keep being awesome!

  5. Ha! I saw Amy's picture and was like, "that's Amorby!" Looks like TXSC was a pretty happening event. πŸ™‚

  6. I think I will be joining you for this next year!
Something I would totally be down for participating in, plus I've always wanted to go to Austin! <3
